Happy Birthday

Tabla Virtuoso Ibrahim El Minyawi is celebrating his 70 th birthday.  We celebrate with him and say thank you for the joy he is bringing to us through his extraordinary fine playing, sensitivity and joy.

Available is the tanz raum CD Daqat II with master percussionist Ibrahim El Minyawi and his son Ali El Minyawi. Mesmerizing rhythms and two accomplished players.

A last good bye

Gad Al Rab, the old master on the heavy and ancient tabla baladi, died last year.

When we saw him last in Luxor during the CD recordings for Al Masdar, he could hardly move his hands anymore and it was difficult for him to play due to the strong pain he suffered.

His artistry will be remembered for ever on all recordings of Alain Weber for the “Musicians of the Nile” and can be admired on tanz raum CD “Al Masdar”.
